Stefana Serafina often leaves her San Francisco base for a dive into  another culture. Her expeditions to visit indigenous tribes in the Amazon,  learn with shamans,  study  Portuguese fishermen in their villages, or savor  urban living in Barcelona have  inspired some of the stories on this page. In her writing, she also likes to revisit her homeland Bulgaria where she grew up during the last years of communism.

Having walked in different shoes, like those of a reporter and  host for the Bulgarian National Radio, a media producer  and a writer in San Francisco, Stefana's passion has remained unchanged: to deliver first-hand stories rooted in vastly diverse perspectives, traditions, faces, faiths, and angles of seeing.

Stefana Serafina is also a hoop dancer and teacher, and the founder of Hoop the Flow, a community hoop-dance school in San Francisco's Mission District. She teaches hoop dance as a way of   nurturing a deepened relationship between conscious movement, physical fitness, and mind wellness. Visit Hoop the Flow's site here.
